do you know who you are?

when somebody asks you who are you?
you'll say your name, then your age, your profession/job
you'll say your school & where you hail from
you'll say who your father is, your mother is, your siblings
then you'll say who your friend is, the most popular or high profile should be the first
then you'll say what your achievement is & what's your SSS#, your PRC#, your GSIS#, etc.

is that enough to know yourself?

but what if your given name is differ from that of your name today?
what if you have different parents now?
what if you have different friends?
what if you don't have achievements & don't have sss#, prc#, gsis#, etc.?

does it mean that you don't have an identity?
does it mean that you are nothing?
does it mean that you also changed?
is your identity depends on your achievements or your government issued cards?
or the persons known to us?

most of us assumes that they know themselves well.
but that truth is nobody knows who we really are.
likewise to strangers, your parents, friends and the persons beside you.
our traits, our characters, our capacities may change every time.

we can never know and never tell who we really are.

if you know yourself...
do you know how to react on a strange situation?
if you know yourself...
can you satisfy your happiness?
if you know yourself...
do you know where you heading?
if you know yourself...
do you know how to overcome your boredom
if you know yourself...
do you know what you really want?

we don't know who we are is the same thing as we don't know what we really want.

we think we know ourselves and aim for something we want
but when we have our wants we then again not satisfy with these
we think we know ourselves and go to some places we want
but when we get there, why is it that you ask: this is not what i'm looking
we think we know ourselves and you strive to fulfill your ambition
but when you become a successful one, there's another ambition to fulfill

the only thing certain is: we only know what we really don't want

you don't want to become poor that's why you're working
but it does not mean you'll become rich
you don't want to be lonely that's why you're with your friends
but it does not mean you are indeed happy
you don't want boredom that's why you're watching movies
but it does not mean that you ease your boredom completely
you don't want noise that's why you're alone in your room
but it does not mean you enjoy the silence forever
you don't want to disappoint your loved ones
but no matter what you do it somehow disappoints them.

reality bites.

now, i ask you: do you really know who you are?
